Spring is just round the corner, thus the fashion trends for the new season are making their way into the wardrobe. The good news is that this year the most popular fashion designers have some really beautiful and practical ideas. The traditional and very comfortable pencil skirt is among them. It is probably the most feminine part of this years’ list of trends as it brings elegance and style into any outfit. Moreover, it goes well with anything.

Pencil skirts never really go out of fashion. But for the spring-summer 2013 season they make a real comeback as they appear in the collections of fashion houses such as Burberry Prorsum, Oscar de la Renta, Erdem, Christopher Kane, Prada, Alexander McQueen, and so on. What is very typical this spring is that designers combine the pencil skirt with oversized shirts, peplum tops, knitted blouses and light outerwear such as bomber jackets and trenchcoats.

The trendy pencil skirt comes in different colors and fabrics. It is made of feminine lace, as shown at the show of the British fashion house Christopher Kane, or of shiny materials such as satin and silk – fabrics that show strong presence on the catwalk this year, as shown at Burberry Prorsum. Fashion houses such as Loewe and Max Mara include in their spring collections pencil skirts made of soft suede or numbers showered with bold leopard prints. In addition, the trendy skirt is tinted in vibrant colors – red, burnt yellow and purple – as seen at Loewe and Burberry Prorsum.
